I can't see sheep!! (Pic)

We went to a place called Lambs Farm...it was a good idea...that, yeah, lets just say didn't work out the way we wanted. We went to the petting zoo and went to the discovery center...then we went on a train ride (which broke)...it was about 100 degrees out and the train broke, yup, at the furthest point it could possibly break...go figure I am like one of the only guys on the entire train...so guess who had to push this 6 billion ton train for the next 20 minutes or so in the 100 degree heat...ME!!! It sucked...oh well...live and learn.
We went to Lamb's Farm...it was an experience...that's for sure.

Where are all the dads?

I am getting discouraged...where are all the dads? When I go out, weekends included, to a store or the park I only see women...yes there is an occasional man. But really where are they? At work? Yard work? Nonexistent? Where? I know involved fathers are out there...but where?
Separation of church and dads? Where are the meetings or groups for fathers? Not just men but specifically young fathers...they don't even have to be SAHD's (Stay at home dads) just Dads. Men NEED the same positive reinforcement that Moms get with programs like MOPs (Mothers of Preschoolers) that are supported by churches. Where is POPs (PARENTS of Preschoolers) or DOPs (Dads of preschoolers) or SAHDOPs (Stay at home dads of preschoolers)? Yeah yeah, "They have groups for men." Yeah BUT NOT for Fathers...it isn't geared towards the men who need and WANT to be better FATHERS...most men's groups have an older clientele...I am looking for something geared toward the 20 something or early 30's dad who has young kids. Dads need a place to vent to and learn from others who are going through the same stuff...just like MOPs...we may not need the crafts aspect of MOPs but we do need that connectivity. Why don't I start one, you ask...I would if I had the time to organize it or knew that there were men out there that wanted or felt they needed the same thing...would I join? Heck yeah in a heart beat. Would I help? You better believe it. Again I ask "where are all the dads?"

I DON'T hold crying babies... (RANT)

Nope I won't hold you cranky pants...
Yup you heard me right. I DON'T hold crying babies...yup I am a cold heartless person. I know what your thinking it sounds harsh. Trust me...I wouldn't/couldn't survive otherwise. Ok now let me explain my idea behind this. As I grew up I watched parents with babies/kids and EVERY time they began to cry, for whatever reason it may be, they would swoop in and pick up the crying kid. Of course the kid got their way and would typically calm down almost instantly...yes I hear you...there are some situations where a pick up is warranted. A "real" fall from a good distance or a good wallop from a sibling that would be a warranted pick up...but just a typical fit or anger does not get a pickup. I watch parents pick up their kids all the time and I cringe...The kids do it just to get what they want. The kids push the parents to that point of breaking just to get their way. It's just SAD...
Here is a good example...with my kids. For some reason I have begun to notice that woman can't let a baby cry. Not sure why they do it but in my opinion they are trapping themselves in a corner. In my experience with the girls and the wife it is truly that way...I AM NOT PICKING ON MY WIFE, this is just an observation. I have noticed that the wife picks up the girls a LOT...no matter what the situation. This doesn't mean I am ignoring them and not holding them...well I usually don't pick them up and carry them unless they just dropped a load or need food. I am usually on the ground playing with them or trying to get them to work on walking. Anyways...when the wife enters the room she is immediately barraged with cries from the girls until she comes in and sweeps them up. With singletons this isn't a big issue but when it comes to more than one kid life takes on a NEW element.

Go ahead touch it...yup that's what hot means... (RANT)

I am a parent who believes in consequential parenting. No I don't allow them to do anything that would maim or drastically harm them...but I will see them reaching for a light bulb and tell them that it's hot, they have no idea what that means until it happens...they learn pretty fast that a light bulb that is on shouldn't be touched. Yes I also let them learn what gravity is, again how else will they learn...I don't rush over to them unless it seems like it will be a disaster (aka Broken Bones). The whole gravity thing has helped a TON. They now know what happens if you step off of the edge of the couch...BAM. But if you lay on your stomach and slide off you don't fall. It took them each one time of stepping off...
Is this style right for everyone? No, but I think parts could be adapted to any parenting style...allowing them to roam and explore. If they stand on something and you have that urge to run over, just sit tight see what happens...they may surprise you.

CLEAN babies = HAPPY daddy!!! (RANT)

Not to say clean babies are the only way to live a sane life but...whoa wait a minute yes clean babies are the ONLY way to live a sane life. Messy babies are just down right GROSS. Being the primary one home I tend to have to steer the kids AWAY from anything that may become a mess that I will have to clean...this includes ANY food that may potentially become a nightmare to clean up. When the wife is around she seems to feed off of the mess...it seems like she whips open the cabinets in the kitchen and thinks to herself..."What would make a HUGE mess." and bam that is exactly what she feeds them. She swears up and down that that is not the case but hey let the facts speak for themselves. When cleanup time comes around I make myself disappear...I want NOTHING to do with it. For one I personally HATE being dirty and second dirty people make me cringe.
We do have three varying degrees of mess when it comes to our kids. Rogue - VERY clean, half the time you don't even need to clean her off...Jade - It's a toss up, she has moments of clean and moments of complete disarray...Phoenix - This girl has a gift and is always a MESS, no matter what she is given she will find a way to make you want to vomit. With the triplets the mess seems to stay with the whole eating time...they don't gravitate towards mud or dirt, well maybe Phoenix does, but for the most part they keep in at the feeding table. Now with the food thing I think Phoenix gets it from her mother she too has the gift of mess...that woman oh wow what a hot mess. The wife has the uncanny ability to find a way to make the slightest thing a bit messy or at least find a way to wear it on her outfit in some form...I love you honey but the food thing boggles me. So in the end...messy food = mommy solo clean up.
